Random Cat Videos III

Jake and Elwood The thing about being a cat person is that you can't go very long without a cat. So when our beloved Pablo passed away earlier this year, it wasn't too long before we went to the local rescue. These are the new kittens, Jake and Elwood. Pretty cute, huh? And if that's not enough cuteness, here are some random cat videos for you: Cat Man Do: Sad Cat Diary: Trololo Cat: Happy New Year, everyone!

Return of the Random Cat Videos

Pablo the Cat I can no longer put it off. This weekend I have to sort through my papers and organize my tax information. But if you can put it off a little longer, here are some random cat videos to help you procrastinate. (And that good-looking cat in the picture is Pablo, who gets his fluffy coat and big paws from some Maine Coon ancestor.) First up is Henri, the French Existentialist Cat . There are a whole series of Henri videos now, including an endorsement deal he got with Friskies. But the first is still the best. Henri the French Existentialist Cat: If you think teaching your cat how to walk on a leash is hard, you might have better luck teaching them how to walk their human. How to Walk Your Human: Finally, this video was so funny that the tears of laughter blinded me and I had to watch it again. And again. Scientific Proof that Cats are Better Than Dogs: Enjoy!

Looking Back on 2012

Spooky helping me write Many things happened to me in 2012, some good, some bad. But the one that affected me the most was the passing of my beloved cat, Spooky. She was 17 years old and had a failing liver. I was hoping she'd make it through the holiday season, but she didn't. I got her from a shelter when I was living in Phoenix. She was a wee thing, an elegant tuxedo cat with a dribble of milk down her chin. She jumped on all fours, clinging to the gate that separated us, and meowed. I knew she was trouble, and I knew she was mine. I named her Spooky because I was a huge fan of The X-Files and because she spooked easily. Loud noises, strangers, pretty much anything had her skittering to a hidey-hole. She loved to burrow under blankets and I'd create "caves" for her. She loved high places, even though she didn't know how she'd get down. She loved to cuddle in the crook of my arm. She'd lick my nose to let me know she was happy. I...

Merry Christmas to All

I happen to be sitting in a bar in Maui right now. I can see the waves heading lazily to shore and soft breezes drift through the open lanai windows. It seems as un-Christmaslike as possible. But I want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas. And my gift to you is a cute cat video. How to Wrap a Cat for Christmas : Mele Kalikimaka! Merry Christmas!

Random Cat Videos

This is a photograph of my cat Jasmine, who passed away earlier this year. She was 17 years old and I adopted her when she was 5, so that's 12 years I'm very grateful I got to spend with her. Because it's Thanksgiving weekend and we've all got places to be, things to do, and leftovers to eat, this week I've collected a series of random cat videos for your entertainment and in honor of Jasmine.
